Rain gear recommendations.

I did a search in pow wow for rain gear and got a lot of good info but nothing recent that I could find. Some of the rain gear was not even available any more. There seems to be a lot of people who like the cabela's space gear. Some one said and it hit my situation perfectly. I don't plan on living in this gear so I don't want to spend 1000 dollars on a set but I don't want a garbage bag either. looking for something in the 100-200 dollar range and would like it to be durable (not a one trip thing).
Thanks

I have a set of US military pull over pants and zip jacket in woodland camo that I bought for firearms qualifications.
It is a long day at the range if you are wet.
I retired a couple of years ago and still have them. They have not been used since then, but with the price of commercial gear...

Wool works for the amount of rain I’ll be hunting in.

Military brown and tan camo (Gortex). The best I’ve had. I found it at a rummage sale. It is really well made. I use it more for fishing in the rain. But did use it while elk hunting in CO a few times.
I don’t like wearing it when hunting, but when you get caught out in a rain storm it’s nice to have.

Not really for main rain gear set, but the frogtoggs poncho is nice for $6, it rolls up small so you can shove it in your cargo pocket or tie to your pack or quiver.
The only problem is putting it on causes the snaps to come undone, so i just super glued mine closed.

You kind of have to decide what your goal with the rain gear is. If it is for a life-saving emergency I would go with some thing a little more robust, if it is just to stay dry enough to tolerate the elements I would go a little less robust. Gore-Tex can be great, and it can suck. You really have to decide what elements you’re looking for and how serious you need to keep the rain off you. The more you pay the better water repellent the garment is likely to be.

Let me say, a couple fishing trips to Alaska taught me the lesson of quality...I’m sure I don’t have to detail how that happened...
