Mission Viejo, CA area Trad Gangers
« on: April 17, 2008, 11:54:00 AM »
I visited my son this weekend out there and he took me up in the hills to show me some areas that had burned etc. Pretty rugged country just out of town around there.

Of course I am thinking what is there to hunt up in those hills.  Goats, deer(white tails, black tails?) pigs?

Or is it anti big time down that way?

Thanks

You could probably find some deer country there but the larger tracts of public land are further east in the mountains...even more rugged! We have a small mixed breed blacktail/mulie.

Hogs are further up starting north of LA (Santa Barbara, Monterrey, Kern County).  There's not that much in the way of anti-hunting sentiment around that I notice.

There is deer hunting in the local national forests.  Cleveland Nat. Forest is closest to where you were and it's some rough stuff.  There is a lot of private or closed land around Mission Viejo so chances are no hunting where you were walking.  Archery deer season is pretty early here and it's hotter than Hades to be wandering vertical landscape.
