Have made a few but finally found some hickory boards. Want to hear some diminsions of board bows you have made or what you think works best.

I'm not into board bows, but Mickey has a good tutorial on his web page:  http://groups.msn.com/ferretsarcherywebpage.

Jawage, has some good instructions on his site too:

The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

I did one that came out under weight.. I was to fast and didn't check weight like I should have..Anyway I did a Red Oak that was 2.25"fades to .75" nocks...4" handle ... cloth fiberglass w/ TB III

I'm doing a build along with a Members son starting Tomorrow after dinner... I'm doing a 72" tip2tip 71"n2n 1.25" fades 4"X1" handle .50" nocks... I'm using Mickey's site as a guide, since I'm making mine little longer. I'm shooting for 55-60#@24"(back of handle). The other member is fyrfyter43's son Lee, I think He will be using Mickey's youth bow site...

For a nice bendy handled bow, take your 68", hickory board and make it 1-3/4" wide.  Rip it to just over 1/2" thick.  From center, mark 4" on both limbs.  A straight taper from there to the center of the end and you will have your profile.  Cut nocks 1" from the tip for a 66" NTN bow.  It should be pretty well tillered assuming a good board and decent wood removal.  Tweak tiller and shoot away.  It'll be around 50# at 28".

I just made one that as 72" (70" NTN) from red oak this week.  It finished at 40# at 28" and follows the string by 1.5".  It shoots nice after I narrowed the last 8" of the limbs to about 3/4".  Kind of Holmegard like.

Have fun.  make bows.
Take a kid hunting!

68" long 10" fade to fade 4" handle in center 2" at fade 1.75 1" above mid limb then taper to 3/4 at ends tiller then narrow tips to 1/2 or less.
Will work with almost any wood and way overbuilt for osage
