Tiller Question
« on: July 05, 2020, 09:30:20 AM »
So I bought a stock stalker coyote recently.  Ive got arrows tuned into it spine wise but I CANNOT for the life of me stop the arrows from “jumping” off the shelf.  Just cannot find the right nock point.  Finally I realized, maybe it was tillered for three under. I shoot split. Sure enough it’s even tillered. What will this do for my nock point?  Move it way up?

If you post a pic of your bow at full draw you should be able to get a good view of the tiller. Generally, especially with a glass bow, string nock adjustment should be enough to correct for split finger or 3 under. It could be a release or form problem or incorrect spine arrow spine. I don't use glass bow much so take this with a grain of salt.

I tiller all my bows even or no more than 1/8 positive unless someone specifies they want other wise. You can shoot an even tiller bow either way.
It’s all in the nock point. What is your nock point now?

There are two things I can think of off hand that would cause a bounce off the shelf.  The first would be too low of a nock point, causing contact between the rear of the arrow and the shelf when the arrow is shot.  You could try a really high nock point, like 1” or more, and see if you still get a bounce.  The second happens when a split finger shooter presses down on the nock with his index finger, causing a bow in the arrow at full draw, which then rebounds when the arrow is shot.  This can be resolved by lowering the drawing elbow a tad, and being aware of any downward force exerted by the index finger when drawing the bow.  (This could also be resolved by switching to 3 under, but I doubt you would like that solution 😊)
