I believe I posted this a few months back maybe. I will be in Savannah Ga. this fall for military duty. Covid has a lot of stuff up in the air but looks like I will be able to leave base and maybe make it to Ft. Stewart. May have to rent a vehicle to do that or the Blackbeard Island hunt. Not familiar with either area. Blackbeard sounds like it will be logistically more difficult. I will be there from late Sept. until late Nov.

A lot of woods on Ft. Stewart. When I was stationed there in 75-77 you had get a pass for certain areas that were open for hunting but there way plenty room for the guys that actually went hunting. AND you don't need a boat ride to get there.
Got this guy in 76 with my old Herters on the east side of the base.

There is plenty of land to hunt on Stewart. I just left Savannah and you can definitely cover some ground out there. I think there's around 285K acres. Some roads get muddy after big rains so hopefully you have a 4x4. Plenty of pigs to hunt out there. Any body of water to include small puddles can have gators in them....ask me how I know
It should be back open now. I checked the area status map today and a lot of people are checked in, so should be good to go. I will say if your wanting to deer hunt go ahead and request your deer harvest card. All of the typical questions can be found on their website. Hit the regulation and FAQ tab and it should make things easier. Shoot me pm if you have any more questions for out there.
