This video starts out with some wheel shooters but stick with it for a few minuets and you will see someone doing some exhibition shooting with a longbow.

FYI, this video is not about Ted Nugent.
He is at the tail end and only a minute or two.
So don't let him detour you from watching this.

That video was I believe filmed in 1982 at the High School in Houghton Lake Michigan. Most people were shooting compounds back then. I was just starting to do longbow demonstrations to show archers how much fun it was to shoot stuff out of the air. It took awhile but eventually a lot of them converted to traditional.

Some great shooting there, Ron.

Ron I don't know how you ever did those exhibitions,,,,, I play music in front of some big crowds and if you mess up something on stage you just don't react to the mistake  and usually nobody notices anything but when I used to shoot the eagle eye every year one time  I made it thru 3 rounds with maybe 15 people left on the line,, and you know when things get extra quiet there's maybe 1000 or more people watching and that 3rd round I just could not make it thru the silence  it completely destroyed me and judging by the bow hands shaking it destroyed most of the others as well.

Hey Ron,  I'm pretty sure that was 1983.  I was the Ohio Rep for the NBBA when Fred interviewed me.  It was really hot in that tent and hopefully, you noticed your wife Nancy standing behind me ......?  Horserod

Ted, the object of shooting in front of crowds wasn't to never miss, I did my share of missing. Sometimes it would take several trys to hit an aspirin. It was all about promoting the longbow.  After I formed the Michigan Longbow Association I recruited some of the members to shoot with me, some women and some kids to show that it was fun for the whole family.
