AD Trads to stiff?
« on: April 19, 2008, 01:06:00 AM »
I have been shooting AD trads cut at 29.5" out of a 60lb lb that is cut past center. Bareshafting shows very weak at 15yds, (2 ft left, nock rt). I keep adjusting the sideplate  out, shaft still shows weak. Take side plate off and get weak! So I shoot paper with a full length fletched shaft and still get weak, start cutting a 1/2" off at a time until I get to 29", still weak!!! I can only assume since these shaft spine @ 85lbs that they are actually so STIFF that I'm getting a false weak and the arrow is bouncing off the shelf? all setups used a 100 grain insert and 125 grain point (I have played with point weight as well). While shooting paper I try another set of arrows and get a perfect tear (feel I have a very good release). Really like the AD's and hear so much positive about them and how tolerant they are, just want them tuned as best as possible to the bow.

Sure appreciate any help!

Sean

IF you are 2 ft left and nock right, that means you are way to stiff to begin with. Add weight up front.

Shooting right nock left is too week.

You are just backwards on your calculations.

Good luck,

Just a hunter, thanks for keeping me honest! I meant the bareshafts are hitting 2 ft RIGHT of my fletched shafts! The paper is showing a nock LEFT tear which is consistent with the point right, nock left POI right, I'm seeing with the bareshafts. Apologize for the earlier confusion! Thanks for you help and could really use some suggestions.

Paper tuning is about impossible with a stick bow as you wouold need a perfect release to get good results. Those shafts set up that way should shoot out of anybow cut to or past center in the 55-65# range and even more. Shawn

If they are 85# shafts you could probably go with 100gr. inserts and tip weight.

Hey Bro,

You know I'm new to this stuff, but here goes... the only suggestions I can think of are get yourself a KEVLAR side plate, and Condor fletchings, then cant to 4PM...if that doesn't cure it, take up GOLF...Hey the bunnies made me say it.....doug
