Sinew Backing an Osage Recurve
«

Just a quick question. I am in the process of sinew backing a 58” Osage bow with working recurve limbs. Should I run the sinew all the way out to the limb tips, or should I stop the sinew just before the recurved portion of the limb begins? Thanks for any input!

If the recurves are going to be working recurves the sinew should cover the curves but it is hard to get sinew to stick to the inside of curves. If the recurves were static you could stop the sinew before the curves.

Thanks Pat. When you say it is hard to get the sinew to stick to the inside of the curves, do you mean that it has a tendency to lift off the back of the bow when drawn?

Yes, or even as the sinew/glue dries and shrinks. Will you post a few pics of the bow? Braced, unbraced and full draw if possible. Is this bow already tillered as a working recurve?
