Need a few kind thoughts and prayers
« on: September 18, 2020, 08:45:20 AM »
While on vacation yesterday my wife, Ruthie, fell off a bicycle and broke her leg. The femur is cracked just below the hip. She will need surgery this morning. At age 67 she just doesn't bounce back as easily as when younger. Thank you all.

None of us Bounce, back or up like we once did, but humor attempt aside, I am sorry this had to happen to you fine folks...

Bad time and bad age to be in horsepistol for any reason, but less a cracked bone...

Keep the Son in both yer eyes and prayers for a speedy recovery, post op

Thanks Doc. Your concern and prayers are most appreciated. They wound up doing a full hip replacement, but she is doing very well. She will stay in the hospital another night to rest up. She has gotten up a little bit and seems to be stronger. I guess she is definitely feeling better, because she is well enough to vociferously critique the clothes I took to her at the hospital. But the thing that made me know she is feeling better is that she  gave me very direct instructions to bring her make up bag. Ruthie is truly a trooper. She has had some very severe situations along the way, but her pain tolerance is truly incredible. When she got hurt, we were four hours from home, but she refused to go to the ER at the beach. She had me drive her home instead. She is truly a trooper, and I'm lucky to have her.

There was an older lady / wife of a chap lived near my buddy I got to know some thru her hubby... Well, I moved to MT for 5.5 yrs and came back and knocked on their door (he had died)(bad ticker)..

The woman who answered looked 10 yrs younger... Being a rather outspoken guy I asked her straight up if she had a face lift cause she looked so much younger...she simply smiled and said, 'it's the pain'!  She meant the absence of pain..

She had arthritis in that hip so bad and walked with a cane for YEARS!  it went so well soon as she could she had the other one replaced.  Late that summer after she had both replaced I saw her at the local fireman's festival and got to dance with her!

She later sold the house and moved to an apt and ha d few good years before she passed which is GREAT...

Hip replacement has come a long way and is tied I guess, to the skill or the surgeon doing it! I wish her well!

Lets' stay positive and hope she's(your lady) is one that has a FAST turn around!

No dad, that girl is not getting back on a bike even if she feels able. She is resting well and seems to be feeling better.
Hopefully, she will do well enough that I can hunt a little before the bow season ends. Luckily, we have lots of family close by willing to help, so I just might make it  once or twice.

Seems to me that men think they're going thru a lot until you hear what some women go thru.  :scared: :o Makes me think men are wusses and the girls are the tough ones. You couldn't PAY me a fortune to have a broken hip and replacement. ( I can hear the calls of "Wuss" in the background ). Anyway, prayers for her quick and complete recovery.

Bob, I might have to agree with you... look at childbirth!

One preacher buddy of mine said if it were up to men to have kids the human race would die out in ONE generation or so...

I bet they put her on those stationary bikes in PT when the time comes, SAM
