Thanks Doc. Your concern and prayers are most appreciated. They wound up doing a full hip replacement, but she is doing very well. She will stay in the hospital another night to rest up. She has gotten up a little bit and seems to be stronger. I guess she is definitely feeling better, because she is well enough to vociferously critique the clothes I took to her at the hospital. But the thing that made me know she is feeling better is that she gave me very direct instructions to bring her make up bag. Ruthie is truly a trooper. She has had some very severe situations along the way, but her pain tolerance is truly incredible. When she got hurt, we were four hours from home, but she refused to go to the ER at the beach. She had me drive her home instead. She is truly a trooper, and I'm lucky to have her.
There was an older lady / wife of a chap lived near my buddy I got to know some thru her hubby... Well, I moved to MT for 5.5 yrs and came back and knocked on their door (he had died)(bad ticker)..
The woman who answered looked 10 yrs younger... Being a rather outspoken guy I asked her straight up if she had a face lift cause she looked so much younger...she simply smiled and said, 'it's the pain'! She meant the absence of pain..
She had arthritis in that hip so bad and walked with a cane for YEARS! it went so well soon as she could she had the other one replaced. Late that summer after she had both replaced I saw her at the local fireman's festival and got to dance with her!
She later sold the house and moved to an apt and ha d few good years before she passed which is GREAT...
Hip replacement has come a long way and is tied I guess, to the skill or the surgeon doing it! I wish her well!
Lets' stay positive and hope she's(your lady) is one that has a FAST turn around!
