Oh snap.....or not?

Left my sage out in the rain the other day. Picked it up today and noticed that one limb had kinda delam'd on the wedge.

Thinking I can wick some good CA into the split then clamp very tight to get it together and finish with a waterproof coat.

Yay/nay? At worst I toss it just so I don't end up with fiberglass spaghetti through my face  It's 40# if that makes a difference.

Hmm must have not had much finish on it. be sure all the moister is gone first. Try to get that bezel thing out so you can get it clamped back down flat. That wood is warped so good luck.

Whats the discoloration and the black line on the end grain? Did you by chance remove some finish from that butt end? I wonder if they used epoxy on that joint. I think I would skip the CA and get some epoxy in there. Might wait a few days before glueing and clamping, sometime warped wood relaxes after it has re-stabilized its moisture content.

Whatever glue you use, make sure the wood is dry first.

And, if you are brave,  try to spread it a bit before working the glue in.

Thanks all, it's sitting on the mantel piece over the fire slowly drying out before I attempt anything.

Dunno, but they both have it and from memory it's been there the whole time (years). I may have rubbed the finish off taking the limbs off/on, it's a tight fit down there.

I have some very thing laminating epoxy so I might have a go with that, pry apart a little and warm up the glue so it gets into all the tiny cracks. I did also think about drilling a hole a little further along from the end of the split and fill with epoxy so it acts as a stop.

I've also just noticed a hairline crack on the belly side glass right on the butt end (between the butt and the bezel). Whatever/If I do I will pull it quite a few times on the tillering tree before taking it near flesh

Starting to seem like an overtightened bolt with the glass crack.  I cracked one overtightening on a frankenbow with a less than perfect limb bed.
