1958 Kodiak and earlier brace height

I have a 1958 kodiak special with a 70" AMO that I am making a string(B-55) for  and in order for me to get a brace of around 8" the string needs to be around 64,3/4" at rest. This seems very short to me but it is what is needed to achieve that brace.
I got this recommended brace from the 1959 catalogue where it states "the longer K-Specials should brace between 7-8"
Question is the 1958 and the 1959 models are very different bows. The 59 model the grip is much more pronounced forward, whereas the 58 model is more of an upright grip.
Would this "more upright" grip of the 1958 bow require a lesser brace and thus taking the brace requirements from the 59 catalogue wrong.
If so what do you all with the 1958 and earlier brace your Kodiak at.

FWIW...I dont have that bow. I have a Bear Wolverine which is a 62 inch bow. Recommended BH is between 7.5 and 8. Conventional thinking had me make a 59 inch B55 string. I haddah twist it like a tornado to get proper BH. There were other issues but those are irrelevant at the moment. I re-made a string using the old string which I took off. This measured 58 and 1/4 inches. I put it on the bow and allowed it to stretch overnight as well as just pulling it from time to time. It is settling in and I know that just over 7.5 that bow will shoot great. I will serve the center section and add string silencers today also. I stick with old skool cat whiskers...they dont absorb moisture like wool puffs. Remember to check strand count carefully. The more strands...less stretch. But fewer is more speed. My 40 lb. bow is using 12 strands of B55. Factory sent some 14 strand string but the fibers seem to be thinner individually. Thickness of my finished string appears to be barely under the diameter of the factory string. Hope this helps you out.

Yes I am in the process of self teaching string making as well....
I made a stretcher jig and put twist in the string before stretching, stretch it out overnight at a desired length with an idea of how much it's going to spring back. Doing this I have found that the string is much more less likely to 'Slinky' so to speak and I have a twist count that I am happy with.
I make about 3-4 strings a week just to throw in the garbage, I log down my results along the process so I can duplicate or refine later on.
This is all not necessary at all, it's just me being anal retentive and enjoying the process along the way, YMMV.

Anyway back to the question.
Is the Bear wolverine a Pre-1959 bow? with the grip more straight than the bows made 59' and later.

on edit; I googled Bear Wolverine and see it's a new Bow offered from Bear, The grip is forward leaning thus bring the most inside part of the grip further away from the string. This is why I was wondering if maybe the Pre _59' bows would need less of a brace.

  In the 1958 Catalogue it doesn’t mention where to start the brace on the Kodiak Special But in the 1959 catalogue any f the Specials over 62” can be anywhere from 7”- to 8” !
   I know the design was different but Tharp opts the first year I see where Bear had the Brace height measurements listed.

  After I wrote all that I should of finished reading your entire post and not just the first sentence. I jumped the gun and went and looked for that brace height and see you already did the same.

No worries Keefer, I think it's going to be a moot point anyway. I've been shooting the bejesus out of this string this morning and the brace is down to a comfortable 7,3/4". Best of all I'm shooting the best I ever have with these strings, tightest groups out to 20 yds for me and I haven't even tune the arrows to this bow yet. I've even had shafts touching a couple times. A lot of this is more probably contributed to putting a feather rest on the bow instead of shooting off the shelf as I did previously, I think I'm sold on them already.
