Could someone tell me the difference in shooting a td recurve or a td hybrid longbow. Pros and cons. I am shooting a recurve but am intrigued by some of the bows i have seen here.(acadian treestik, shawnee etc...) Thank You.

Almost none recurve maybe little faster longbow little less noise.I have found the really short longbow limbs stack more than the short recurve limbs around 58" that is the only major diff.Kip

Shot recurves for a number of years. Then I purchased a hybrid longbow so I shot both for a few years. This past season I became a hybrid convert. Thats all I shoot now but all my bows have been one piece.I draw 27"s and I had two 58" hybrids absolutely no problem with stacking at all. I still own one of them and two more on the way.If you are seriously considering a takedown recurve or hybrid try them both if you can see which you prefer I guess it's all a matter of taste as to what you"ll like.

I think not much.
The biggest difference between most recurves & hybrids is the size, weight, and shape of the riser.
In the ones you mentioned this is not an issue as they use similar riser designs.
Hybrid longbow might be a little tougher, it's harder to twist a limb.
Recurve would probably be a little more forgiving to form or release imperfections.
I think it's mainly looks that will drive you to one or the other. Pick the one you like.

I tried to tell the differences between my Morrison Shawnee with the Arapahoe and then Dakota limbs: same # same arrows, same quiet, speed etc.
The longbow limbs seem smoother maybe, and somehow 'simpler' and that did become a preference-for me.
With my Fedoras, the results were the same- both are terrific, but it seems I like R/D longbows better now. It is really a perception thing, at least for me-the real differences are more like picking fly **** from pepper!

For me hybrid is quieter and lighter, recurve is faster and more mass in riser. Love shooting them both.

I understand that elberg has a 48" td longbow that is sweet.
I shot a 54" the other day and was so amazed , no pinching or staking for such a short bow.

Bjorn: I've had the same experience with my Shawnee. My Arapaho limbs are a little lighter and shorter than the Dakota limbs, and the Dakotas seem a little smoother. They're both plenty smooth and quick though.
To weigh in on an earlier question, in general I think the hybrids are a little more forgiving than recurves, and they don't give mp much on speed.

Interesting thread. I'm getting ready to build my third glass lam bow, a take down R/D longbow. My first two were take down recurves. I'll get to see first hand any differences I guess.
