Planning a hunt to Chickasawhatchee WMA in Georgia
« on: January 19, 2021, 07:41:17 PM »
I’m planning a hog hunt at Chickasawhatchee WMA in Georgia, I haven’t been there in a couple years, I was wondering if anyone has been there since the hurricane came through a couple years ago? I heard it devastated the WMA, I was just curious if it was huntable? Or should I plan on visiting a different WMA.

Here is the number to the region 5 office, 229-430-4254. They can provide up to date info. There is a post about a road closure in the Chickasawhatchee on the GA DNR website from April but nothing else. If a hurricane came through and knocked down trees two years ago, the pig hunting is probably better now than it was. Pigs love thick cover!  I think the Traditional Bowhunters of Georgia did a fall group hunt on the Chick last year or the year before. If you hunt GA regularly it might be worth joining TBG. Good luck.
