   Seem to remember it from about 1977, 1978 or maybe 1979.  They also made a hunting model at 60"  in black.  Nice find as they most likely did not sell many of them during that time period as compounds had taken over to a large extent.  I think they were only offered a year or two. You can go to www.vintagearchery.org.  They have many old time catalogs and some mags and recurves for sale.  It's a neat site.

'79-'80 Ben Pearson Pro-Staff 3000
....the last of the bows supposedly with George Birnie's "hyper-kinetic" limb design
- although I saw/see nothing in these limbs (either catalogue/advertisement pics or real bows)
or the earlier BPH60 (the "black" model alluded to earlier) to suggest they were "hyper-kinetic".

Thanks I looked at the vintage bow site that is cool a lot of information there it seems that 79 was there  last year of production. The B P H 60 is a sweet looking bow what poundage is it .I am going to build a string for the 3000 and see how it shoots it’s 27# I have some of my wife’s arrows that may work in it. She may have a new old bow

Last year for Pro Staff 3000 was perhaps '82 - the cat for that year does not seem to be on/listed at:

but used to be available via the Ben Pearson website before their announced closure Dec '19.

In my BPH60 text/pics I incorrectly said '78-'79 - should've been '79-'80 - corrected now, but even that was wrong!
After I wrote it I subsequently found it in the '82 Pro Staff catalogue ;-) in Jan '21 whilst looking up the evolution
of the "Ol' Ben"/5000 longbow.
Also the naming seems to have subtly changed which may be why yours has only the model no. & not the
"Pro Staff" decal .... so maybe yours dates to as late as '82 (haven't seen a Pro Staff '81 cat & it never seemed to appear in the main cat).

Thanks hardburn it probably is a later bow because the color seems to have a green shade to it it is not one listed in the catalog. The limbs are not 27# I built a string for it and was not able to string it using the push pull method it is so long my shortened stringer will not work .it looks like it is marked # 27. 71 on both limb on the in side of the fades I have not found any other marks on the limbs I will have to get a new stringer and have it weighted on a bow scale only after  carefully exercising the limbs

What length is your bow?

Here's one that was sold on US Ebay back in '15, lower serial no. 140 than your 236? ;-)

Maybe your other nos. read 42? 71 .... e.g. 42# 71" i.e. non-AMO length?

I got it strung I’m not sure what the length is I made a 70” string from nock to nock with a 9 1/2” brace height it is 67”the pull seems to be between 45 and 50 lbs is one of the nicest bows I have ever found used very few nicks or scratches limb tips are like new here’s a pic of it strung
