Firefly longbows, what do ya think ???
« on: February 05, 2021, 08:09:02 PM »
Got a 58” longbow coming on a trade, it’s a pretty aggressive looking hybrid longbow !! Any thoughts or experience with these bows ???

Jim used to come here and hunt the lease, sure enjoyed talkin to him. Don't think I shot any of his bows because I'm  kinda weird , I only shoot one bow during hunting season, period...

Good looking bows for sure and I liked talkin bow building with him too, learned quite a bit just talking to Jim.
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Jim Jones might be one of the most underrated bowyers in the country.  I own 2 of his bows, my son 1 and my brother 3.  I chronographed my 58 inch hybrid against a longbow that was 5#s heavier, $1,000 more and built by one of the most desireable bowyers out there.  The firefly matched the speed of the heavier bow.  It is quick, maneuverable and comfortable in my hand.  You will love it.

Ron,
I don't know if you remember the Firefly I shot with you at Pine Tree. I still have it. It is a great looking bow. The fit and finish are really good, and it is a fast and good shooting bow. The only shame is that I can't quite handle the weight anymore.

I own and love my Firefly 3 piece T/D Longbow RH 58" 50# @ 28".  It is the bow I hunted with in 2020 and is the bow I grab most often to shoot.  Jim is a great guy from Michigan who still hunts in his mid-seventies.  He is humble about his bows, but he crafts great looking, very smooth, fast bows.  I'm confident you will enjoy yours
