Opportunity For Traditional Archery *****
« on: April 24, 2008, 09:51:00 AM »
I will be going to a Hunter's Safety class this coming Saturday, I went to part one of the class yesterday, I talked about traditional archery, because we had a discussion on choosing equipment.

I was asked to bring in my traditional bows.  I'm going to bring in the Bob Lee, with my eagle flight quiver that has the deer foot on it, and my Bob Lee has deer feet on the upper limb on the backside, I'll also passed out cards with TRADGANG.COM on them.  Just to promote the site at the same time.  I'll still take my longbow along, but I think the Bob Lee will get the most attention.  I have the 56 in. " Hunter " three-piece takedown.

It will be a great opportunity to push traditional archery, some of the guys have never hunted before, and have yet to pick out their equipment.

Good for you Carl. But a recommendation. Don't push, introduce and offer Traditional Archery.

ya, wrong choice of word.  My idea is to show them how much I like it, and that I'm not blind without sites !, and maybe some of them will take a liking to it.

Nothing wrong with letting your excitement shine through.

Yep, understandable, you just have to be in the right group, and have the right wood, and you are in like Flint.

And if you eliminate some of the false ideas of using a longbow or recurve, it goes along way.  It's what we don't understand is what we fear !  That also goes for people.

Well I'm back from my class, what a farce !

I did not mention anything about traditional archery, other than I do shoot traditional bows.  I have never heard so many people talk about
" missing deer" with all their so-called technology.

One of the speakers went as far as saying there's not many traditional shooters out there.  That's when I did correct him, and told him on the part of a large group.  But I left it at that.

OK my hunters safety class is done, but I think I learn more about Bow hunting from the aged 10 until now.  I even instructed them on the HSS, they did not even know what it had a deer drag !

Pastor Carl.  Please remember, the NBEF and similar bowhunter education courses and the standard Hunter education (firearms) course are INTRODUCTORY courses, not advanced.

I understand, but I think I like to teach it a little bit different, they just so much that they could touch on and didn't
