Sipsey River Trad Archery (and Troy Breeding longbows)
« on: April 24, 2008, 03:55:00 PM »
Been on the hunt for a lighter/longer hybrid longbow as a Firefly backup and checked out the Sipsey River website ... lo 'n' behold, there was a Troy Breeding hybrid up for sale with the perfect spex and at a better than fair price.  Anyhoo, a shout out to John @ Sipsey and a subsequent call to Troy for the bow's lowdown clinched the sale.

The bow arrived in one day and the riser and each limb were individually sealed in plastic and well wrapped in newspaper.  Big kudos to Sipsey River, these folks know how to take care of their customers!

The longbow is in near mint condition and it's a one-of-a-kind prototype that Troy built in 2005.  64", 45# @ 28", with Tonkin cane limb cores sandwiched in cherry, osage, hickory and walnut lams, black glass on both the back and belly, ipe and osage riser lams with maple and ipe pin striping.  Smooth and fast, typical of a TB longbow.

Thanks for the compliments Rob, we appreciate it.

The cats brought a baby rabbit and another chipmunk in the house today.
We were able to save them too.

Welp, I went and done it again.  Jawing away with Troy about the spex on "Pinstripes" when he casually mentioned that the last bow he built before moving to MO was gonna go up for sale.  This morning he emailed me some pix.  Wow.  I phoned him immediately with my credit card info.  This'll be the 4th TB I've owned.  Now I gotta go sell some bows 'n' gear pronto ...   :D
