Black Bear hunting guide in the Northeast
« on: April 06, 2021, 08:46:55 AM »
All,
I'm looking for a recommendation for a guide service in the Northeast. I live in NY and would prefer to book a black bear hunt in New Hampshire, Vermont or Maine. If any one has nay experience of a guide that understands traditional archery hunting please let me know

Thank you in advance
Pete

Search bow quest. Tom puts on a great camp from what I hear. Lots of past threads from hundreds of previous participants

Only experience I've had bear hunting in the northeastern United States was with Squapan Mt. Outfitters near Presque Isle Maine. Price was reasonable and the accommodations were very nice. I went on the Black Widow Bear Hunt there in 2017. I am no expert, but it seems that the bear sightings in the fall are extremely dependent on the berry crop and the agricultural crops. I was there on a "good berry" year and the bear sightings were down. I did see bears up close and personal as I hunted from a ground blind. I've hunted bears in Quebec several times, but always from a treestand...the ground blind was fun!
On last years hunt there were quite a few bears killed and I believe everyone in camp had an opportunity. I would recommend getting in contact with them. Great folks!

Tylor Kelly's camps in the Allagash. Wade; the owner, is a trad archer. I hunted moose with them last fall. Great accommodations, great guides, great people (lots of grouse there too) and has been hunting bears for a really really long time.
Cheers,
Mike
