Arrow suggestion
« on: April 26, 2008, 03:29:00 PM »
I'm getting new arrows for a 21st Century longbow.  It is listed as 54# at 29 inches.  My compound bow draw length is 27 inches using a release.  I'm thinking that the arrows for the longbow should be around 28 inches with a draw weight of 44-49 pounds.

Easton lists the 2013's as being the fastest for this DL and weight range with XX75's.  The other option is going with 1916's.  Both arrows use 100 grain weights.

What do you guys think?  2013's or 1916's?

Thanks!

I think you will find that the 2013 and 1916 at the same length will be about the same weight.

I would go with the 1916, thicker wall= stronger arrow.

But it's hard telling which arrow will work without you knowing your draw length with the LB.

I would go with the 1916.  Much tougher and a good bit heavier, but they will still be plenty quick.  Start with them a little long and get some heavier weight points to experiment with.  If these seem a little weak or you want to try something with more FOC, 2016's would fit the bill.  Have fun and let us know what works.

Thanks guys!  Will try some 1916's and see how they work.  They go real well with some new strings from Leroy!

you should be sure of your draw length first.

If your compound draw length was 27 your traditional draw length will be closer to 26
Silence over speed.  Heavier arrows never hurt.
