OMP Ozark Hunter
« on: July 17, 2021, 09:19:58 AM »
Hey all,  I'm new to the forum and have been shooting traditional for about 4 months and planning on taking a stickbow into the field this year instead of my excalibur crossbow.  I'm interested in the Ozark Hunter 68inch 50lb longbow and was wondering if anyone has experience with the bow,  whether its a good quality longbow and curious on what kind of speed I may get with a 10gpp arrow.  I've been shooting a 40lb black hunter recurve but want to move to a 50lb as a "do it all setup" as it means the minimum draw weight for all animals here in Ontario.  As for a higher draw weight I have no issue pulling back a 50lb draw weight,  I am new to the sport but have been lifting weights a high level for about 20 years or so.

So I guess my question is, will a 50lb Ozark Hunter long bow allow me to shoot a heavier arrow at the same speed as a 40lb Black Hunter Recurve at the same or high speed?

Why don’t ya just buy a 50# set of black hunter limbs for black hunter riser you already have. It would be cheaper and you are already familiar the riser you have.

I just like the look of wooden longbow.  I really purchased the black hunter to see if I would like archery and then always planned on moving to a bow I like.
