Guys I don’t know what happened but we are losing our heritage. Some will say I shouldn’t point out issues than but I need to.
We were the ones led the way in so many aspects. It was a way to keep ourselves connected to the hunt and the lifestyle.
Many decide to find every available advantage than be proud they did it traditionally/hard way. Doesn’t make sense. Hunting the hard way doesn’t mean one handicap but every other advantage to overcome that. How hard is it to shoot a close known distance at an animal we knew was coming, what time and had something for him to eat to condition him to that exact spot?
Today many fellas consider bait, cameras, cell cameras, drones, etc etc etc as a part of their technique.
Fellas imagine a bait pile with a camera on it, the camera tells you what time it’s eating and the cellular camera sends pics updating you all day and night so you know nothings changed. Why waste time right?
Shooting him at 8 yards with a recurve or 30 with a crossbow is to me about the same accomplishment wise and not very much different than a 3D shot. Ever go to a club and not expect targets to be set? Shouldn’t hunting be different? . Tell me how it’s different if something is guaranteed?
Styks are supposed to make us limit ourselves. How is it any different from any other weapon at that point if most about it was a foregone conclusion? Is it hunting the hard way? Are we personally connected to anything besides a feed store and hardware store sells batteries. What lifestyle are we leading? Sharing phone pics but not really being in the woods except for one trail in to carry bait? I’d say it certainly isn’t.
We’re missing something.
Now we can’t sharpen knives, broadheads, can’t butcher deer, heck can’t find em either perhaps.
Right now in my area there’s a big EHD outbreak not too far away. All the “hunters” outside that area swear it’s in their area as well. Their camera pic count has dropped way off especially since this time last year.
Hmmm last year was a total mast failure year, this year is fantastic. You think these guys can’t find deer on a corn pile because they’re in another set of woods eating the preferred and abundant food source. Why isn’t that obvious? ? Isn’t it a shame they don’t know?
This isn’t to convince anyone to switch although my hope is some only consider what I’m saying, if anyone is on the fence and shares these sentiments, if they need help with any of it please ask. We need to turn this around. It’s called sport hunting cause it’s supposed to be sporting. Hunt the hard way, it’ll mean more.
