Sunday morning 3rd hunt....poured qnd poured and poured...no activity

Sunday afternoon looked promising...didn't rain until half way through the hunt then poured and poured and poured....Gil unleashed an arrow on a doe however, missed.

The conditions were such that taking pics escaped the whole group. ...Sorry...The visit, camaraderie and friendship is a most treasured gift  Gil will be returning December 10th for the continuation of the Wounded Warrior hunt. We have decided to take pics before we even start the hunt.

God bless America.....

Thanks for what you're doing, Scott.  As a Viet Nam veteran, I certainly salute you.
By the way, I have a very dear friend who lives not so far from you.  He is around Madisonville.  I've known him since he was a teenager.  His Father owns a farm in West Tennessee, who allowed us to hunt there.  We taught my friend the basics, and I think he's a much better deer hunter than I am, now.  Oh. well.

Gil is one of my favorite people and a great friend, there was actually a book written about his teams heroic exploits in Afghanistan called" The Only thing Worth Dying For". In the book you will find out what an warrior Gil was and still is in his fight to over come horrific injuries that would have sidelined most men.

If you can put a deer in front of Gil it will be in a hurt, that guy can shoot!

Here is Gil and his team in Afghanistan, he is in the back behind Hamid Karzai who they brought out of a remote village to lead the country. The picture is from the books cover. If I remember right, all of these guys were killed except Gil and a lieutenant in a errant bomb strike that put a bunker buster bomb right on top of them.

Here is Gil a few years ago, he is in the middle, I made him a few bows as a thank-you for his service. Another friend Nolan is holding his new bow.

Eric...have know. GIl for a decade....my very good friend

Note: His son was looking directly behind Gil when he released on the doe. He felt the arrow was on a perfect tract and the doe moved significantly before the arrow arrived. Yes, Gil is a very good archer.

My friend Lance,, whose dog 'Hank', who was featured in North American Whitetailast September,  textedd us to come assist. We were firmly convinced that that the shot was a complete miss. So we thanked him for the .most generous offer.

We have great friends here at Bent Creek Farms.
