Just want your opinions. I have noticed a huge decrease in how vocal the local turkeys have become, especially within the last 3 years. Has anybody else noticed this. It's almost like someone turned off a light switch. They'll gobble on the roost and then shut up once they fly down. Just like to hear some other thoughts. Thanks, Sam

I was only out for 20 minutes on Saturday. I took my 13 year old cousin out. Never heard a gobble. 20 minutes in here comes that little white/red head bobbing through the brush. He hammered him (19 lbs, 9" beard and 1 1/8" spurs) and I went home for a nap. I haven't really been hearing any gobbling around here, but I know there are lots of birds...Mike

Been out every day since the opener. Few gobbles from the roost, then all is quite. It should start to pick up once the hens start to sit.

I'm only a casual turkey hunter but I noticed about five years ago they reduced their calling quite a bit from back in the old days.

Probably because they are getting used to being bothered by humans in the spring. Here, I haven't noticed that...lotsa' gobblin'. The hens aren't all nesting yet, so that could be it as well...here anyway.

A few years ago I had my oldest daughter out turkey hunting. I was calling and "unarmed" so when a coyote ran up and grabbed my hen decoy things got pretty exciting.(Daughter had shotgun, too suprised/scared to shoot, Dad is screaming shoot em shoot em. Anyway IMOP that is why gobblers aren't talkin too much anymore around here. Too many coyotes looking for breakfast= less turkey talk. Stay cool, stay still, he's coming, get ready!
