I'm a big fan of 3 blade heads.  Slender heads like Woodsmen, and newer VPA with a slick sharp edge melt through thin skinned game very well.  My experience is almost totally with heavier footed tapered wood shafts.  Decent weight aluminum or carbon with good flight should do, as well.

When my boys were small they shot 40# bows and I set them up with 2 blade eskimos thinking they would get more penetration with their low weight bows , they lost a number of deer because of no blood trails . I found their arrow covered in bubbles but not one drop on the ground and we had heavy brush so dead ends . I installed 125 snuffer on their arrows and they never lost another deer and had the same penetration.

A woodsmen will penetrate more than a two blade .!

Tim, I found this as well in one medium I was shooting into... all I can figure is the 3 blade better negated arrow pinch, but it did out penetrate the 'normal' 2 blade.

All I'm getting at, yet still haven't heard back from OP on rest of specs is this.... if I can bury a WW to the fletch on a #2000 bison with a #70 bow, surely you can pass through a #200 Whitetail with one out of a #40 bow.
