Takedown Recurve stack help
« on: January 27, 2022, 05:16:49 PM »
Going to try my hand at building a set of recurve limbs. I've built a few takedown longbows but I am unsure of what to use for my stack for the recurve as far as parallels and tapers are concerned . Gonna try for a 58" with a 16" riser and 45#@28
Any help be appreciated
Thanks!

I have a 58" inch recurve with ILF limbs . I will verify when I get home but they are 40 lb with 2 tapers at 1 thou each. Tapers were 60 though, glass was 40 thou for a stack of 200 with .002 per inch total taper.

That is going from memory on those limbs. Trad Tech Blackmax 2.0

They are 40 lbs on a 17" riser with a 15 degree limb pads

I used to build takedown recurves 25 years ago. I have all the data saved but there are a lot of variables like riser length, wedge length, limb design etc. I think Binghams has some info on their site that might help you out.

No one can give you a stack thickness but the Bowyer that made them, you will have to build a pair of limbs and find out what # it is and then we can help.
Anything else will be a guess, you may get lucky and get something close, like 5# close :dunno:
