Flemish string jig plans?
« on: March 06, 2022, 04:03:02 PM »
I was given a flemish string jig.  It is clearly out of whack, so far as positioning....
Using the "55" peg, the string came out at 36"
Using the "76" peg, the sting was 53".
Now I did allow for 10" tags, still way short.  Standard tag ends are 8", correct?  But even then, that should have only shortened the sting 4"
Does anyone have a good diagram for a jig, with measurements?
It certainly seems that I will end up building one anyway.
Thanks...

Type, “Flemish string jig” in the How To forum. Perhaps it is detailed and correct

It may not be out of wack. I usually use 17” for the loops (9” for the top and 8” for the bottom). Working with B50 my string formula is:

Bow length (Recurve)
       - 4” (longbow I subtract 3”)
      +17” (loops)
      -   1” (stretch)
= finished string length

Now, if I get my twists and braids real tight, I have had my strings come out short.
