The final product of weekend at Bigfoot.
« on: May 08, 2022, 12:24:07 AM »
The last month I got the amazing opportunity to build two of my own bows. With the help of Kirk from Bigfoot bows himself! While the workload was 35/65 (probably more like 25/75) with Kirk doing the heavy lifting. I'm still proud of what I put in and they turned out gorgeous.

Bow number 1, is a hill style bow with a little extra. called the "Boot Hill Express" made with a Bocote riser. Draws 48 at 30. Not that it feels like that much! 68 AMO on brown glass is the perfect match. One pieces are definitely a different experience and I learned the importance of doing things in a timely manner during the glue up. Also how much detail goes into the craft. All the way to the limb tips. Kirk threw in a wenge power lam and tip wedges to really wake this bow up.

Bow number 2 was going to be another one piece longbow from his "Flatliner" model. However while working on the first bow I noticed Kirks personal hunting bow. I grabbed it off the rack and it was game over. I had to have it. So we made the "Sasquatch Hybrid". Made with a bubinga/ebony footed riser. I wanted a 64 AMO due to my 31 inch draw. Kirk was adamant that we built a 60. He knew what he was talking about. This bow draws 55 at my 31 inch draw. Feels like 45, with very intentionally placed tip wedges. The limb tips move a total of 4.5 inches from brace to full 31 inch draw. For a perfect string angle.

Both bows have been respectfully renamed the Wombats Whisper Mk. 1 and 2. With my newborn daughter and wife's name on the limbs.

Both bows are whisper quiet and devilishly fast tools. Deadly and quiet. Just the way Kirk designed them.

Attached are the pictures from the finished bows. I can't recommend Kirk at Bigfoot enough if your looking for a high performance custom. Go give his website a look. If your wanting the same as my hill style you will have to message him but you better believe he is ready to build more!

Here are a few more pictures and a short video that I took of Wyatt shooting his new Sasquatch Hybrid.

Here are a couple photos of Wyatt helping me build a new Long bow form. This is what we originally planned on doing from the start in exchange for helping me with my wood pile.

I’m going to put together another thread to show my appreciation of what Wyatt did for me called “The rest of the story”.  I’ll try and get this posted later today.  There was a lot of hard work involved here that hasn’t been mentioned, and needs to be explained.       Kirk
