I'm so confused about string materials now days from Dacron to no stretch... Anybody have a stretch factor chart or list? Thanks...

I have only used FF strings. There is some initial stretch to the material. On my bows it typically just a couple of twists worth and then it doesn't stretch again unless you do what I did a couple of Octobers ago. Don't leave your bow in the car strung. I'm not talking about summer heat. The October before last I was setting my strung bow in the cab of my truck while eating lunch and taking a rest between morning and afternoon hunts. Outdoor temps were anywhere from highs in the low 60's to low 70's. My FF string stretched a solid 1/2" after a couple of days of doing this. Luckily I caught this due to terrible arrow flight and having a bow square handy. Since then, I don't put strung bows in car or truck cabs regardless of outdoor temps.

Terry, next time were hunting together I would love your advise on bow quietness. I agree one hundred percent on making one quiet. Sometimes mine is and sometime it isn't.

No worries James... anytime.

Some act like it's a burden to have to "twist a string".... for God's sake buy a compound.  :biglaugh:

Maybe not set it and forget it but 452 and BCYX are pretty darn close. And that is nice. For years I kept a ruler where I hung the bow but no longer need to. I haven't checked the brace on my current shooter in weeks, months maybe. I made the string in January. Somehow it was exactly the correct length when I put it on. I gave it 4 turns a few weeks after I made it. Haven't measure it since. It could maybe us a twist or two but it never really seems to change enough to matter.
Normally I would put a new string on with minimal twists and let it sit overnight to set the loops really good, then twist it up to brace. I also made a sting stretcher, but I think it is a waste of time with some materials.

I switched to low stretch (D-97) about 10years ago for all my bows, including classics.  It's faster and reduces bow vibration at the conclusion of the shot. It is a little noisier/sharper pitched than dacron, but not so much that I can't sufficiently quiet it.
