dating a Montgomery Ward bow
«

about 15 years ago i bought a "well seasoned" recurve sold by and with the Montgomery Ward label on it. it is a "Western Field, Bruin" model. i had planned to use it for bow fishing but i never did.
i am quite sure it was built in the 60's but if anyone knows more about the time line of these bows, i would appreciate it.
thank you.

I saw REAL Sporting Goods in Wards in the 1970's Some in the 80's....
Wards was pretty much done by the mid 90's. Bought a lawn mower there when we bought the house in 1995.
Store closed before the Warranty was up.
Bear, Pearson and Shakespear made contract bows for the "Big Box" stores.
A picture would be helpful...

My son Little Bear's "Deer Gun" is a Wards "Western Field" model 740 .30-30
Marlin made them for Montgomery Wards back in the 1960's
I got it from my Uncle Lew years ago. Gave it to him in 2014, He killed his first Buck with it in 2015.
The kid's got LOTS of guns LMAO, but that one's his "Deer Gun"
