A piece of Traditional Archery History
« on: July 17, 2022, 10:12:27 PM »
Folks, several years ago, I embarked on an adventure that involved several of the nicest and most humble gentlemen I've had the pleasure of meeting, speaking with and getting to know. The endeavor was having these men sign a bow titled “The Tradition Lives On” and it was to be raffled off for charity.
This bow traveled around the country and a book was made with their photos, a photo of their signature on the bow and a little bit of their archery history as well.  This bow that displayed their signatures was generously donated by Mr. Craig Ekin of Howard Hill Archery Company and is a  Howard Hill “Tembo”, one of Mr. Hill’s favorite bows.
When the bow was ready and raffled off, Mr. Tim King, from Texas, after buying $200.00 worth of tickets, won “The Tradition Lives On” signature bow, with the book that went with it.
Fast forward to this year. Diane Miller, CEO of the Archery Hall of Fame, said that “The Tradition Lives On” bow belongs in the Archery Hall of Fame.
I don’t know how many of you here on Face Book know Tim King, but a more generous man, you’ll never meet.  HE DONATED “THE TRADITION LIVES ON” signature bow to the Archery Hall of Fame.
Since this bow was created, three of the twenty one outstanding gentlemen that signed this bow have passed away.  “The Tradition Lives On” signature bow can never be duplicated and it is certainly now a “One of a Kind” piece of traditional archery history, in my opinion.
“The Tradition Lives On” signature is now displayed in the Archery Hall of Fame Museum and proudly sits with many photos of the Worlds Greatest Archer, Howard Hill.  The signature bow is actually standing next to a bow that was owned by Mr. Hill himself.
In closing, I would like to show here, the gentleman who signed the signature bow:
G. Fred Asbell ~ Ken Beck ~  Monty Browning ~ Jerry Brumm ~ Neil Byce ~ Len Cardinale ~ Ron LeClair ~ Marvin Clyncke ~ T. J. Conrads ~  Craig Ekin ~ Byron Ferguson ~ Roger Fulton ~ Dale Karch ~ Bob Lee ~ John Lee ~ Dick Mauch ~ Dick Robertson ~ Steve Turay ~ Barry Wensel ~ Gene Wensel ~ Bob Wesley

Thats incredibly generous :clapper:

"Fast forward to this year. Diane Miller, CEO of the Archery Hall of Fame, said that “The Tradition Lives On” bow belongs in the Archery Hall of Fame."

I hope she was more tactful than that and asked politely  :o

Buggs, when she made that comment, we were just chatting about the book I had donated for an auction and the book represented the bow.  Yes, if you knew Diane Miller at at, a very gracious lady.
