An impromptu repair
« on: August 24, 2022, 10:18:57 AM »
So, I'm visiting a daughter and her family and it turns out there is a bow project at hand.

About five years ago I built kid bows for both my granddaughters.  Pretty much identical to the r/d longbows I was building at the time.   Part of the riser is made up of an overlay and the overlay popped off.  I don't remember what epoxy was used on this overlay originally but it wasn't EA40.  It was probably the hobby shop stuff which I no longer use after having a few bad experiences with it.

She has outgrown this bow and I need to do new ones for both these girls but she wants her first one put back in order.  When she visited me a month ago she was shooting a 33# frankenbow at about 25" draw so obviously this little twig is going to be a wall hanger until another little girl comes along.

Tools and glue are what is available in  the garage.   The epoxy is the stuff in the picture.  It has a 25 minute pot life so should be easily doable.

The clamps are an eclectic collection but they are working.  This glue is pretty thin but it doesn't want to slip and slide like EA40.

All over but the waiting.   The view is nice.

Yes, they worked fine.  It’s all cured up but spent the day fishing so complete it tomorrow.

Waiting on you :campfire:

 :biglaugh:

End results are pretty good.   There was about 1/32" sixe slippage on one end but it sanded out pretty well.
