Weird limb noise issue

I've got a hybrid long bow that came back to me with a clicking noise.... The weird part about it, is that it only makes the noise after it has sat strung up for 12 hours or more, then it only does it once... Sometimes it's a double click, and always happens in the first part of the draw..... I've had it happen stringing the bow once too..... After the initial "Click" it doesn't do it again after shooting 30-40 arrows through it and letting it set an hour or so.... It only does it after  12 hours being strung , or over night.

Man i've pulled my hair out trying to figure out where the noise is coming from, and until this morning i finally figured out its definitely coming from one of the limbs.... I put these limbs on a different riser and other limbs on the riser that came back....The riser is solid and right on. But, I just got the same click out of it on a different riser, with a different string....

There are no signs of any limb damage, or lamination voids, or anything visible at all. Location pin holes are fine, as well as the pins, and they are cleaned out and polished... I'm at a loss for what's making the noise, but it's loud.

Anyone ever had this happen to them?

Have you got any type of lube on your pads and line up pins? I smear a bit of potty wax (new)  on mine  And check all your overlays to be sure they are not loose or fractured.

 look at the string groves bellie side before its pulled.
Mabe a small twisted limb.

Do more limb switching and see if you can boil it down to a specific limb??

Trust me guys.... I've checked and double checked everything mentioned above. Limb pads and both location pins are smooth as silk and lubed, string grooves polished and waxed, i used a different string too....

Today i actually got the limbs making the clicking sound without the string attached while stringing it back up.
I still haven't figured out which limb it is.... but it's gotta be something eternal in the laminations. There are no overlays except tips and those were out of play without the string today....

I took the limbs off and tested each one bending it in a rubber jawed vise, and couldn't get the noise again.

I'm going to try mounting each limb separately on my  aluminum proto typing riser and check it again.... I'm still scratching my head on this one.   Here are the limbs.

Well for sure something is moving to cause that. Good luck finding it. You would think something would broke or showed itself.

UPDATE!   

I found which limb is making noise, and where its coming from. I was lucky enough to get it consistently making noise on my bow stringing pegs, and used a stethoscope to locate where its coming from. Its right at the transition from the tip wedge into the working limb where i've got the stethoscope in this photo.

Now that i know where its at, i'm going to sand the edges and see if i can find a void, or cracked lam. Nothing showing visibly from the edges the way it is....

The double click is sorta a mind bender too. Might make one think both limbs were making the sound?

Nope… checked that right off the bat Pat… Found the noise with the stethoscope just flexing the limb on my bow stringer pegs this afternoon.

These are handy tools to have to locate noise. I’ve had location pins making noise before and located it instantly with the stethoscope.

This is definitely something in the lay up that broke loose.A  Glue starved joint in the  Tip wedge transition is my best guess…, but who knows…

 I’m going to dissect it slowly from the out side limb edges in until I find the crack or a void. Either way, the limb is toast… but I want to know what happened so it don’t ever happen again… I think it’s worth the time to find out if I can…

Surgery was unsuccessful... diagnosis...unknown, but  Terminal.....  The remains will be cremated, and the ashes will be spread in the back pasture with a short ceremony of a few carefully thought out 4 letter words.

Kirk, I have one that does the exact same thing from a Very High End Bowyer.  I always just assumed it was in the pin/bolt area.  Now I know to look elsewhere.  I just draw it a few times before going hunting and again while on stand for insurance it won't happen at the wrong time.

I've had a couple TDs do the tic first draw.  I did the same , draw it when I get to stand.  One tic and done for the day.

I put toilet ring wax(brand new out of box)  on it and it stopped.

They had thinner wedges than the old 3/8" thick ones. Maybe the wedge flexed slightly and made it move at riser end???? 

Not sayin that's the case here.  Just typin out loud...

I really don’t have an explanation for it. Ive only had it happen once before many years ago, and no explanation for that one either. But… it’s inside the limb for sure. Not the limb pads…. The stethoscope doesn’t lie…

New limbs are being made…. But…..I may try laying up one limb to match the lower one. Never tried that before…. Lol
