I shoot cock feather out and I've noticed my bottom hen feather becoming worn after only a few shooting outings. Is this normal?
I also put a new rug rest on a little while ago and it's not really worn but it's got a pretty good groove in it. Again, is this normal?
How often do you guys replace your feathers from wear and tear?
Thanks again,
Bakes

I fletch with fletch tape so replacement of feathers is not a big deal. I shoot cock feather in and this seems to reduce ware on the cock feather. That why I like carbon arrows, the type of nock they have you can fine adjust to make sure you do not get a lot of ware.

The lower hen feather will wear over time a little more than the other two, but it shouldn't show substantial wear after one or two outings.  Might need to realign the feathers on the nock if you're shooting carbons.  With aluminums or woodies, you would have to cut the nocks off and reposition new ones.  Raising your nock point a little might also work to reduce wear, but I wouldn't do that if you're getting good arrow flight.  Might it be the rest material?  Hope some of this helps.  Good luck.

I shot like that for twenty years with good arrow flight....

then one day, for the heck of it I turned it cock feather in...

same great arrow flight and I see absolutely no feather wear....that was a couple years ago now....
