A new bow!!!....Now what?
« on: May 14, 2008, 03:42:00 PM »
The wifey bought me a PSE Kingfisher bowfishing kit as an early father's present. I have never dealt with a non-wood trad bow before. It has an aluminum riser and fiberglass limbs. Do I need to unstring it after shooting like I do my longbows? Also, any tip on quieting this thing down. It makes more noise than a train wreck! Any other tips y'all want to throw my way will be greatly appreciated!
The great bow twanged. The black arrow sped straight from the string, straight for the hollow
by the left breast where the foreleg was flung wide. In it smote and vanished, barb, shaft,
and feather, so fierce was its flight.~J.R.R. Tolkien-The Hobbit

It does not have to be unstrung, so I am told by the P.S.E. Rep. to help quiet it, put mole hair under the string where the string & limbs meet put spider leg silencers on the string. Its for shooting fish so quiet isn't something they put much effort in to!LOL!! Good luck!

Thanks, Jeff. I was actually thinking about trying to hunt with it this fall. I put the bowfishing rig on my old wheelie. Had nothing better to do with it since I graduated to trad archery!
