Hey, wasn't the guy that designed that named Dave Sosa?  If so, what ever happened to him? I remember he got fed up with the 'other websites' back in the day and quite posting everywhere.

There is much knowledge in this post and Sosa chimes in in the later pages:

Quite a bit about David on the TT site - he’s a good man.

Yes, David was a Sponsor here till he sold out to 3 Rivers.  I spent a lot of time on the phone with him, and Tradgang was one of his very few refuges as people were really horrible to him on other sites.

I have never cared for those type bows, but I was certainly not going to condemn the man for my own personal preferences.  He had a market share and a following. It was a real shame what evil came out of people toward him. BTW, they aren't members here.

Would love to hear from him myself and find out what he's up to.

A lot of things that David did were revolutionary.  I had one of the first DAS Dalaa bows, and hunted with it for a number of years.  We had a member on here at the time, Vermonster, who was practically a one-man cheerleading team for him.  I wonder if he’s still around and what he’s up to?

I spent quite a while with the reps from 3 Rivers at the Tennessee Classic, and shot most of the DAS bows they had with them.  I was quite impressed.  One of the things I like about the DAS bow is the design of the arrow rest.  It is a built-in off the shelf rest, but has many of the advantages of an elevated rest.  At least one of the bows there had the new 19” riser, that replaces the one on close-out.  I had sworn off buying anymore new bows, but that one may make me fall off the wagon.

The DAS limb attachment system is similar, but not the same as the ILF limb attachment system. I shot both side by side while I was there.  The DAS system is quieter, and seems to be a more solid way of attaching limbs than the ILF system.  The only problem with it, of course, is that it is not an ILF system, and so won’t readily accept the great variety of ILF limbs that are available.  Any ILF limb can be modified to fit the DAS limb attachment, and 3 Rivers will supply the riser with either the DAS or the ILF attachment at the option of the customer.  The 3 Rivers rep felt that the DAS system was superior to the ILF system, for the reasons I mentioned, with the obvious disadvantage of not being immediately interchangeable with ILF limbs.  The DAS system also lacks the ILF adjustment to move the limbs sideways.  The 3 Rivers rep said in his experience most people either never use that adjustment, or adjust it incorrectly, but because other people adjust it wrong doesn’t seem like a very good reason not to have it, IMHO.

I have 3 DAS risers although all have the ILF attachment system and not the DAS. Although the DAS system is slightly quieter, the ILF is very quiet. I love custom wood bows and in my opinion I own some of the best. Wood bows just have "soul" and I realize why some people want nothing to do with metal riser bows. There is something special about a plain and simple wood bow. Having said that if I could only own one bow it would be a DAS riser and ILF limbs. All of my DAS risers have the small raised hump on the shelf with some velcro makes for a super good way to have minimal fletching contact while shooting off the shelf, small bolt to move in or out for tuning. You have a ton of options to get the grip you like. You can tune this system easily to get perfect arrow flight with perfect limb alignment (which most custom bows even a lot of the good ones don't have if you check them), you can set the tiller you like. You can spend $200-$350 and get limbs that are as good or better than any custom bow on the market. I think David Sosa was way ahead of his time and a really bright guy. One of the things I like about traditional archery is you can make it as plain and simple as you want with your archery equipment and shooting style or you can spend more time with ILF or DAS and tinker a little more. It is all fun and I support everyone for what they like when shooting traditional equipment. This year I will be out hunting with a DAS riser and Uukha limbs, my favorite of all the bows I have owned.

The DAS system also lacks the ILF adjustment to move the limbs sideways.  The 3 Rivers rep said in his experience most people either never use that adjustment, or adjust it incorrectly, but because other people adjust it wrong doesn’t seem like a very good reason not to have it, IMHO.

One of the advantages of the Tribute riser is that it has a well thought out and designed ILF limb adjustment that works on both the ILF and DAS plates.

Most all ILF limbs can be converted to the DAS system including the newer Uukha limbs with the singlesided ILF bushing -
adapters are available that screw into the limb and are functional on the DAS plates.
I have several sets by different machinists for current and future use.

Looking closely at the photos of the old and the new 19” riser, it is interesting that the old 19” DAS riser does seem to have the lateral adjustment that I refer to in my post, whereas the new one does not.  If this is the case, I wonder why they didn't incorporate this adjustment into the new DAS 19” riser?

...you are right about the new 19" being a sweetheart... and I can confirm the ILF plates do have the lateral limb adjustment...

Very different processes of design and input for the different risers.  The Tribute came about as a result of the link above whereas with the new 19”, 3Rivers designed it and is telling people what they are getting.  There are a few conversations regarding the new 19” over on TT as well - lotta DAS guys over there

Just to clarify, the new 19” DAS riser with the ILF plate does have the same lateral adjustments that all ILF risers have, but the one with the DAS plate evidently does not.

Yes - from what I can see of Gnomes

Personal opinion, the new 19" DAS riser was designed to be more in line with the mainstream ILF community with the option to change plates and also shoot DAS.  In addition, a greater selection of grips are available given the design/width of the riser handle.  The ILF LLA screws are on the sides of the replaceable ILF plates and not on the DAS plates as that's not really possible from an engineering standpoint.  One can buy the new riser with either plate system AND get the other plate for an additional cost.  One would then have both options available.

On the Tribute, both plates, DAS and ILF were movable with the adjustment screws built in to the riser and only one option of an ambidextrous grip.  IMHO, ambidextrous grips are usually only good on ambidextrous bows.  The new riser is an improvement in many ways, but there will still be those who will favor the Tribute.

Some people are in to old 60 style Corvettes, some prefer the newer models - they both seem to work just fine.

I'm somewhat of a fan with a Gen 1, couple Gen 2's and a Tribute or two hanging around.
