The long and short of it
« on: August 07, 2023, 05:18:47 PM »
The long;
For many achery, regardless of type of bow used, is a non animal target type endeavor only.  Some places you can peruse you don't get much for interest on a thread with dead animal pics.  But start one about how many strands in a string or what type of tab or glove and you'll get fifty replies.
I often wonder about posting hunting successes because in a way it seems like boasting.   Don't get me wrong, it is pretty cool to be able to take the game like I do.  Heck even having the opportunities to hunt I do is humbling to me.  However for me it is exciting when a friend sends me pics of his latest kill, pics of animals he's taken in Africa to get me pumped up before my trip, pics of animals he has on camera he'll be hunting this season.
Archers helping archers is a great thing.  Bouncing ideas and experiences around helps all of us improve our abilities.  Target archery is definitely in my repertoire of daily preparation and practice.  Heck the work I put in for TBoT tournaments definitely made a difference for me in my preparation for my hunt at Sofala Safaris last month.  Targets and foam animals paid off in real animals.
The short;
That said I'm in this for the hunt.  I am a bowhunter.  To me success is measured in short blood trails, meat in the freezer and good stories to share with bowhunting friends.
I can afford to shoot most any bow I like.  And I like Primal Tech bows.

I check every day on here hoping someone is going to post about a hunt…successful or not with pictures. Thank you for posting yours up and it isn’t bragging!

Beauty Mr Cook.  I am a hunter I love the entire process. The shooting to better yourself and be prepared for the opportunities when they are presented.  The scouting, running cameras, the constant learning.  All of it fills my spirit.  Its almost season here and I cant wait.  The season to make memories is coming, get out there....

I also wish that there were more hunting stories (successful or otherwise), trophy pics, etc. that were posted on here. This is a bowhunting forum after all. I don't see it as bragging at all. It's no different then rolling into camp with a deer in the truck and everyone coming out to look at it. We all want to see it and hear the story.

Yes!  I find this time of year boring on here without any of the hunting stories we get in the fall and winter.

I'm also a bow hunter and I wish I could be out there shooting right now but since my surgery the doc says no weight on this shoulder until the end of sept. I may not even be able to rifle hunt this year

That hurts.  I had a partial shoulder subluxation the other day.  Finally saw the doc.  He was able to put everything back in place and the pain has subsided.  Still can't sleep on that side but shooting my bow isn't an issue right now.
