New guy here and coming back from 23 years of not pulling a string. A lot of shoulder problems, ranch life, along with work as a professional pilot. Shot my last deer on New Year's Eve evening in 2000 with a Super Diablo, but I also was hunting with a Kodiak T/D and Wing Thunderbolt, the 54". To age myself, I attended the first bowhunt on the Aransas NWR with my dad. I was a pup but already had arrowed a number of STX critters. I've done a lot of firearm hunting in between. Now that my shoulders are settled in and life is getting simple, I'm going to give it ago.

Got a 39# '68 Indian Archery Mohawk tuned up shooting Rose City arrows real pretty. Starting to get pumped, but will even be more so when the three-digit temps go away.

I've had several 'set ups' for decades....

Bows n Arrows are like tools.... I own more that one screw driver if you know what I mean.

I'll be entering the woods this year with my 64 or 70# MOAB as always....

Then I'll move to my 60# MOAB if need be as  the weather chills in Nov.

That will sell out my year.

I will be attending LTR 2024 with my 2 selftbows that finished 20 years ago at 48 and 57#s, and they now should be at 53 and 62#s. Then I have two take downs, at 50# Centaur, and a 62# Mowhawk that are always 'on deck'.

I also have a 50# MOAB, and a Bear bow that Smokin Joe gave me that are in the low 50s..... both 1 piece. Got more arrows that I could ever loose still to this day....

Have fun guys!!!!

Almost forgot the MOAB 63# that I can use if the weather ever cools down here in Central Texas.  Same arrows and same broadheads, perhaps a couple Grizzly Instinct or VPA.  Maybe throw in a few AD carbons on hogs, as well.

You'll kill rabbits no problem.

I've posted numerous times about my Bull Moose last year. 40# Bear TD. Double lung, Died in sight
Hope to do it again but on a bigger Bull. Right now I'm at 43# w the same limbs as I've managed to stretch my shoulder muscles some more. Still hard at it w physio and weights. 17 months after shoulder surgery.

Will be hunting Mulies, Whitetails, Moose, maybe Elk, and hopefully Cougar this winter.

Good Luck this season everyone!
It's really simple. Just don't take those borderline shots. Tomorrow is another day.

Gun, I have had 3 shoulder surgeries.   They all took 18 months to get my strength back.  Cancer is what is taking me so long to get back from.  At least I am topside and still have the urge to go chase things.

Primal Tech 3 piece and two piece bows.  [email protected]" and [email protected]".  Wood arrows, Ace Standard heads for the most part.  Carbons if I target pigs more.
Be staying here in Texas for the most part. Will makebthe annual trip up for Missouri deer.  Pretty much run my fund down in Africa and don't expect to do anything too crazy until 2024.
I can afford to shoot most any bow I like.  And I like Primal Tech bows.

Gotta love those cedars! I dug out one of my old ones the other day and shot it with my KMag...like a dart! If I didn't have so many other things on my "to do" list, I'd be tempted to make some up. I've got plenty of Deltas around. Probably not going to happen this year, but if I can manage to stay on the green side, it might happen next year.

Nice looking rigs you have there!

Nocking on wood, and really hoping planets align, tea leaves arrange themselves into formations meaning blessing abound, etc, etc. My bow of choice will be my first, from about a year ago, a 45# Black Hunter that I draw to about 40. Arrows, some salvaged GT Warriors 600 spine, cut to 26.5, 50grn inserts, 125 grain thumpers nd the victims will be N. Ga tree rats that I am going to clean, prepare, and eat with my dog. These will be my first hunting experiences, hope to be posting pics after 15th season opens!

Be my usual 75lb Blackwidow PLX, with 900 grain Red Balau wooden arrows with 3x5" blue Parabolic feathers and either Grizzly or Ace broadheads..
Will be hunting anything that's legal with it. Not one bit concerned about if it's good enough, that bits up to me  :biglaugh:

Good hunting to you all, may the wind be your friend, may your animals be close, and may  your blood trails be short.

Best
Lex
Good hunting to you all.
May the wind be your friend, and may your arrows fly true,

I'm really surpizing myself despite a 23 year absense, last shot with a bow was a WT kill and a lot of shoulder pain, that was on 12/31/00.

Three surgeries over the near quarter century, better doctors, has my hopes up. Shooting my '68 Indian Archery Mohawk 39#. Going back into to this I knew my draw length had changed an 1", I guess time does stuff like that, so 28.5" now.

Anyway, started back shooting at 10 yards and it was like that last shot was yesterday. I haven't shot a lot, but trying to make it all count and not worried about the number of times I pull the string. Yesterday, I sat on my popup stand bucket  and shot at 20-yard. First two shots were tight, I decided to move the bucket over a bit as the shafts were too close for comfort (I consider cedar arrows valuable). The next two shots did the same, but from a different angle. Shots #1 and #3 had a slight feather trimming from shots #2 and #3 respectfully. Enough of that, I will shoot singles now and recover the arrow before the next, like I said, cedar arrows are valuable.

Now and like previously, I only shoot the broadheads that I will hunt with. I'm shooting the Zwickey Eskimo 2B's. I'm trying not to get too giddy, a long ways to go in a few months. At least the WT in my woods are pretty dumb.

Looks like my Black Montana is off the rack this year.....least first up .
I switch between my two Montana's....1 Black & 1 Brown named "Rose" ....

They both like the same feed , which makes my choices pretty simple. I just adjust point weight per needed with any string-glove-silencer  changes.....So no surprises this way  :biglaugh:

One or both of these setups for my 2023-2024 season.......

Black 2012 Montana Longbow
50# @ 28"
29.5" Easton 2018's  with 145-175 gr (weighted) SS Razorheads on the buisness end .....558-600 gr  total arrow weight

or

Brown 2016 Montana Longbow
53# @ 28"
29.5" Easton 2018's with 145-175 gr (weighted) SS Razorheads on the buisness end.....558---600 gr total arrow weight.....

Best to everyone this season ....May adventure & prosperity  shine upon you and yours ......:campfire:
