Got a BBO from WingNut awhile back, before Christmas, finally getting around to working on it.I got the DVD along with the bow,but I have a few questions I hope/know I can get answered here that weren't addressed enough for a newby like me to quite be able to finish the bow up.........
First,it was mentioned in the DVD to leave about 8" from the tip end of the limbs unfinished as far as the facets go,and he says he'd talk about it more later, but I never saw anything else about it.Do I just lightly file/sand the edges to taper from the facets to the tips without actually narrowing them like the rest of the length of the limbs??
Second,I seem to remember something about lightly scraping the bamboo backing to remove the outer layer of the bamboo, but didn't see it on the DVD.Do I need to do this??There's natural water marks, not to mention all the pencil marks and such along the back that really need to be gone. How should I go about this??
Third, and last(right at the moment),is this bow designed to have a shelf/rest cut in to it,or should I build a rest up with another material such as wood or leather??I don't recall this being addressed in the DVD either.
Alot of questions I know, but I also know this is the place to get the answers, and I really would like my first attempt to turn out good.
Thanks to all that reply with any advice, and thanks to WingNut for a great winter project.
