Big Jim Mountain Monarch

No idea why but i got the itch for a recurve a few weeks ago. Perhaps its the wide curve limbs 
I order my first longbow, a Caribow featherhorn takedown way back in 2003. Since then also a couple Great Northern bushbows and still have them all.

Anyways i've never shot a recurve but want one so did some research. I first considered a Caribow recurve cause i like the grip shape of my longbow, the beavertail grip, and takedown feature that Abe uses. Then i got to looking at Big Jims bows online and boy are they sharp looking and he also uses a similar type of takedown feature on his 2 piece recurve and also offers beavetail grip.
I see Big Jim has a long wait which says alot about his bows so i went ahead and paid the deposit a few days ago.

Boy it's going to be a tough wait! Hopefully i'll get a chance to actually talk to Jim and see his bows in person either at Kalamazoo or Comptons rendevous.

Either way, I'm excited!
I'm planning on the 60" Mountain Monarch with Black & White ebony limbs and a very dark riser of some sort. I like the black G10 but part of me also would like a wood riser as well so need to discuss that with Big Jim. Pretty certain i'm going with the same weight as my Caribow which is 57#@28".

I just got my first Big Jim build, a Thunderchild. The wait was rough, but worth it. I don't have social media, but there is a Big Jim's Bow Club group on Facebook. You can access even if you don't have FB, thats what I did. There are a lot of bows posted, lots of photos you can go through.

Nice to know, I don't have facebook either.  Jim makes some dandy bows for sure!
