I shot this nice doe a couple weeks ago. Field dressed weight was 110 pounds. Public land.
My 16 year old has been hunting with me a long time now which makes it alot of fun but it can make it harder. Now that he's old enough he can set his own spot which allows me to sit by myself which was just the case a couple weeks ago.
I got him set in his spot and then i found another spot on the other side of a clear cut and set up about 60 yards in from the clear cut. Luckily i have switched to a tree saddle as it allows me to sit trees that i normally wouldn't sit. Ended up in a very small tree over looking some scrapes and deer trails leading out to the clear cut. This was just a quick afternoon hunt as we had bird hunted earlier that day.
Seen 1 doe slip past ouf of range and then about 15 minutes before shooting time ended this doe came in on my weak side. I moved around the tree and took the shot as she was head down feeding. Shooting wood arrows made by Gary Hall and tipped with 160 grain VPA 3 blade. Entry broke her elbow and had a complete broadhead pass through about 5 inches up her rib cage. My son heard the ruckus and was over to help in no time.
Shot with my 57# Caribow Featherhorn.
