sharpening a simmons land shark
« on: May 18, 2008, 12:00:00 PM »
I purchased 3 different simmons broadheads thinking I should try a 2 blade since I do shoot a 49lb bow.I'm sure there has been threads on this but I can't find them.I even bought the sharpening system that simmons recommends and I can't get a good sharp edge. They certainly are not ready for hunting after 15 or 20 strokes on the system that is implied in the directions.I have even tried the file and my own methods but haven't achieved a huntable edge.Whats the secret?Or what am I doing wrong?

I use the wheelie sharpener on them and all 2 blade and its the easiest and one of the best field touch up there is.  Then finish with a stone

I second the wheelie sharpener.  Only way to get (for me anyhow) a Simmons or a HH broadhead sharp.

use a round file and a round ceramic rod. that will keep the hollow ground edge.
