There are many types of laminated compressed resin impregnated riser woods out there.

This is Chromaply material , high density stuff.  No comparison to spectra ply . It’s closer to Diamond wood in density and strength.

No g-10 on these two bows. It’s solid black Chromaply. If ya zoom in real close you can see the wood grain.  This stuff mills just like very dense hardwood. No comparison to spectra ply……  Kirk

I bought it factory direct a few years ago and had about 400# worth  shipped on a pallet. I got hosed down on the shipping cost, and haven’t ordered any since then.
I was considering distribution of the product, but it never worked out. I’d have to do some digging to find my contact…..  try Google and see what you come up with…

Keep in mind that they have low density and high density products. Huge difference between the two in strength and looks. The low density is closer to the spectra ply. Thicker lams and lighter mass weight. The high density is closer to Diamond wood in density and lam thickness, only it’s made from birch ply instead of composite material.     Kirk

No…. Frog wood was a distributor for a very short time, and only distributed the low density product. His prices were a bit high, and the shipping cost killed his venture.

I’ll look into my email archives and see if I can locate a contact for the general manager of the company I was dealing with at Chromaply.    Kirk

Just to be clear ,spectra isn't composite material, unless you consider laminating wood together to be composite. 

It isn't as dense as the stabilized material, probably about as heavy as walnut lumber.

SpectraPly wood is made in the USA from veneered layers of premium yellow birch that have been brightly dyed. Spectraply blanks offer a unique  turning experience that yields high quality, vibrant projects! The veneers are dyed under extreme pressure for full penetration of the dye throughout the wood. After drying to 5% moisture content, they are then laminated in a radio frequency press for an unfailing bond with a perfectly consistent lined appearance. You'll enjoy vivid color, easy turning, and excellent stability. SpectraPly wood is easiest to use with sharp cutting tools. It glues easily and takes a variety of finishes; however spray on finish will ensure clearer color delineation.

I stabilized some spectraply and it take a lot of resin. The only problem is the glue will let loose in the curing process. Think if it was clamped would have been fine.
It will work fine in TD risers I have a 60 pounder out there doing fine.

I didn't like the amount of riser flex you get with that spectra ply. There is measurable deflection in a 50# bow. besides that... the stuff looks a bit cheesy to me. too much like plywood for my liking...

I've still got a low density Chroma Ply riser block in a Camo pattern with blacks browns and green colors that i haven't used yet. I think i got that from Frogwood years ago and haven't found anyone interested in it.
I may build a stock 45-50# bow out of it someday. It might sell quicker in bow form. Maybe put camo limbs on it too.   I thought about using it on my bow swap project until i got the name of my victim. But... I've got something going more appropriate now.        Kirk
