I was out at the Buckhorn Traditional Bow Shoot this weekend in western Massachusetts with a couple Quebec Bear Quest companions. Eric Ackerman was at last years Quest and took his first black bear with his own selfbow...quite an accomplishment! Tom Phillips and myself also tag our bears with selfbows.
Anyway I've been trying to decide what to try this year. Having tagged a black bear with my selfbow and a flint head by Woody Blackwell, I had decided to use one of my own forged trade points this year...but what to send it on it's way was still up for grabs. That decision finally came to closure...one of Eric's winter project selfbows will be my stand companion this year.
Eric's bow is a Pignut hickory selfbow 66" 58#@28 with a perfect tiller and plenty of punch. That in itself would qualify for one of my choices. But as you can see, this one called out for me
This should be a colorful camp this year with Whip's Sunbear and my Bright Bear! Can't wait to see what the others will be shooting...Doc
