My "go-to" trad bow that I didn't make is a 68 inch Wesley Special... Sometimes the string will contact my chest, but my hunting set-up keeps the sleeves pretty snug to my arm. I don't use an arm guard, nor a shooting tab in the woods, and I cannot remember a problem with the string.
When I hunt with bows I made, they are all 68 inches as well... I only have a problem if the brace height is off... But I have gotten better at fixing that, so no worries there.
I have never tried anything else bow wise in several years. So it may be a matter of I just don't know anything else, and don't have anything to compare it to. It may also be a matter of acceptance. We are already putting ourselves at a disadvantage hunting a traditional set-up from the get go... What's one more issue?
