4-fletch and 2/4 blade broadheads
« on: May 20, 2008, 09:41:00 AM »
Now to preface this, I'm a big 3 blade fan, BUT... I just made up some CE Heritage 350's for my heavier bow and put a 9" flo orange wrap with 4 4" RW orange parabolic fletch on in 75/105 angles and orange nocks.  They are absolutely perfect for my Zwickey Delta 4-blades or Magnus I's put in straight 90 degree angles from the nock.  Doesn't matter which way you put the arrow on the string the "look" will be the same when you draw the bow back as compared to a 3-blade.

I realize this has been done before, but I haven't done it myself until now.  I really like this setup and was just wondering who else is shooting something similar and maybe opening some one elses eyes to this type of setup.  Will make a very functional hunting setup and ease the possible follow-up shot.

Well, I don't want this to go into that (the I see it or I don't) discussion, but aerodynamically speaking wouldn't you want all of your arrows to be the same?  I do the same with my 3-blades and the positioning inline with the fletching.  I'm sure it doesn't make that big of a difference, but every little bit will help anyones overall accuracy.

Just a thought...

If it makes you more confident, go for it.  Not required though, if everything is tuned.

I have to agree with Apex, I can't tell one bit of difference in broadhead position as long as it spins perfectly true. I do prefer me 2blades vertical though cause I tends to disappear better and not distract me (I'm one of the "don't see its") but can shoot them or 3/4 blades in any position with exactly the same results.

I like 4 90 degree 4" feathers on any broadhead set up.

Here is a thought for you...

Since the arrow doesn't start spinning from the drag/helical of the fletching until it is well away from the bow; when using a 2 blade broadhead, would it not be best to mount them horizontal so the blades would not be perpendicular to the archers paradox of the arrow flexing around the shelf?  I liken it to riding around in your car with your hand out the window...

I shoot 3 blades so everything is the same...

Makes sense Steve but I can't tell any difference in flight or otherwise other than the sight picture no matter how they are mounted...as long as they spin perfectly true.
