When it happened to me, I didn't even feel it.  And mine was a 3-blade.  I was about 13, and it was someone else's arrow and someone else's fault.  I found that scene hard to watch tonight.
Life is a whole lot easier when you just plow around the stump.

There's a story in the Spring 2024 issue of Compton's "A Walk in the Woods" magazine where something very similar happened. Kind of spooky.
