Eye probs

I guess the retina in my right eye is having a problem , that’s my dominant eye and hand .

Been having trouble shooting to the right 4” at 15 ish yards .

So I got a lefthanded longbow but wondered if I will need an eye patch on right eye . Haven’t shot it yet but plan to try it when I can get a string made .

Anyone had a similar trouble ?

Do you use glasses? Try shooting with out em.

I don't wear glasses except to read.  I've been to 2 eye docs and thats how I know it is a retina prob ,going back to specialist next month.

I shoot both right and left handed.  I have a strong right eye dominance.  I don't wear a patch.  I think having a strong eye dominance is an advantage as far as not wearing a patch is concerned.  There is no doubt as to which eye is in control.  I think the people who need a patch are probably cross dominant or don't have a strong dominant eye, so control goes back and forth.  Not knowing which eye is aiming the arrow can mess with your shot.  Another alternative if you're having problems aiming when shooting left handed would be to squint your right eye while aiming.  Good luck!

I'm def right eye dominant, I've tried shutting the left eye with the RH bow with no change. Need to make a string and get the lefty set up so I can try some different things.

I’m right handed and right eye dominant. I detached the retina in my right eye many years ago. Took 4 surgeries to get it back in place. They also removed the lens from my right eye. I always shot with both eyes open and though it took a while the brain eventually will adjust to only having vision in one eye. I continue to shoot right handed to this day and have no trouble being consistent out to 20 yards

I can still see but a bit blurry.  If I look at an electric pole in distance, it will have a pronounced curve in center to the right.  Don't know if that is why I'm shooting right or not.

My vision is blurred and distorted as well in my right eye. The retina specialist that operated on me years ago was the one that told me eventually your vision will adapt and it has.

I was right eye dominant, right handed. My optic  nerve was cut during a surgery. I can’t make tears and have really blurry, cloudy vision in it. I shoot split vision and to be honest I don’t feel handicapped being I don’t truly aim.
You’ll not need to cover your eye if it’s not dominant anymore. That’s why you cover an eye to force dominance to switch and you don’t notice a reaction. Remember you don’t cover it to throw garbage in the trash, step off a curb, jump a brook, etc. your eye naturally does it. Don’t sweat it too hard and don’t over analyze it

Until your appointment with the eye doc, aim 4" to the left  as I've aged hitting within 4" of anything I'm shooting at is a winner

Hey Kenny,

I don’t know how you have your bow set up, but I’ve got a buddy that was having the same issue that went to an elevated rest and moved his string knock higher, and started shooting 3 under…..it helped a lot…. Might be something to play with.

I’m left eye dominant, and shoot right handed with both eyes open, and can shoot split finger or 3 under reasonably well. but I prefer 3 under because it tightens the gap and shortens the point on distance.

I tried lefty and really SUCKED . LOL

So I'm adjusting my anchor and shot pretty well at 20 tonight, I usually kill deer at 15ish so I think I can make it work.
