Need Arrow Dynamics advice.
« on: December 22, 2024, 12:34:36 PM »
I've been using Arrow Dynamics arrows for years and love them - very forgiving across a wide range of spines.
Over the time I've been using these arrows, I have usually been shooting #50-55 lb bows. With these bows I am using the Arrow Dynamics - (Traditional Series) arrows. As I've aged, I have been gravitating towards slightly lower weight bows in the #45-50 lb range.
So 3Rivers has Arrow Dynamic arrows on sale and I'm thinking about stocking up on some more.  They are offering the Nitro-X Traditional (Black & Woodgrain) - their Lites are for bows #35-55, their Trads are listed for #55-75. They also have Stingers (Black & Woodgrain) in 500 and 330 spine.
It appears the Nitro-X lites are probably my best bet based on the spines listed, but the whole time I've been shooting the Arrow Dynamics it has been with the regular Traditional series, out of 50+ lb bows - cut to 29.5" with 150 grain points - and they fly like darts.  I was hoping to stick with the regular Traditionals so I can just keep all my arrows the same. But, I'm leery they are going to be too stiff if I'm using one of my lighter weight bows. Perhaps I could make it work by cutting them longer?  Even though Arrow Dynamics can handle a wide range of spine, I'm thinking using the Traditional regulars might be too big a stretch for a 45 lb bow?
Thoughts?

Burnsie,
The regulars would be too stiff. I don't know how the shafts are now, but the spine used to vary from batch to batch, so don't read too much into the results you have now. If those AD shafts would have had a reputation for straight and consistent or even consistent inside diameters, I'd say they would be the most popular carbon. They can make really easy accuracy. And shoot through deer as good or better than anything.
I think the old style larger diameter ones make the most of that taper design. I haven't used them fir a while and pretty much don't use any carbon these days. But if someone said the AD had precision and consistency, I'd try them again. I have a lot of the Stingers too. They aren't too straight. Those were purchased 6-8 years ago, so maybe they are different now.

Burnsie,

I have been using them for over 2 decades. However, I had a guy hand pick mine for spine.  Once he retired I tried to deal with the factory direct. Things changed and they didn't want to pay for their Sponsorship for over 6 months.

They also screwed Ted Fry of Raptor Archery.

I don't have a clue about 45#ers but I'd call 3 Rivers and ask to speak to one of their arrow experts about spine.  I think they are the only Sponsor here that carries them.
