sad news

the Primitive Archer forum will probably be shutting down tomorrow, so says the server. For me it is very sad news and the end of an era. d:^(

R.I.P.  There was a ton of goodstuff there.   Is anyone making an archive of the site posts?  We did that with a mountian dulcimer site that closed after more than a decade...  at least the discussions are saved for posterity instead of being lost...

When I realized it was gone for good I decided to join here.  Sad stuff, as others have said I learned so much from that forum.

Sad indeed.  Sure wish someone could have archived the vast amount of info on that board.  Several members tried, but the owners apparently weren't interested.  Guess everybody has to live life their own way.  If nothing else, I wish we could have saved a few of the amazing, custom emojis we had over there.  ha ha

Life goes on:  I currently have four bows in the pipe line that I might actually finish at some point.  Glad to see so many PA refugees over here.   :archer:

It was a great resource for sure.  Hopefully there will be a way to recover the archived info.  There were a number of us that reached out to the owners over the phone to arrange a transfer of some kind.  They assured me and I’m sure others that they would not just end things with out reaching out for an offer first.  It’s a shame that didn’t happen.

It may still happen, Dave and the rest of you guys. I talked to Kevin Hawkins(sleek) and he has been talking to PA's owner and the server and we may get the forum going again. Keep your fingers crossed and send good vibes out into the universe. I'll keep y'all posted as things progress. If you have contact info for former members please reach out to them and let them know.

Didn't know where to go to check, was hoping it was just my internet stopping me from accessing PA. Glad that tradgang is here though.

Yes when I first went on it had many cool members. However I think a lot of the 'problem' and why people started drifting away was the unnecessary sniping by certain members....that's why I stopped going on there. Brusied egos. When these things get insular they tend to go south....

Hey bownarra! Good to see you here. Ya I noticed this also over my time there with some members. A lot of good folks there too though.   Moving forward if the site is to be revived moderators will need to stay on top of that to keep things koshser and civil.  That will be the key to keeping members wanting to come back and engage in dialogue and share knowledge and experience with out worry.  That being said folks can get “butthurt”over the smallest things and often things get taken the wrong way over a written format.  We shall see how it goes I guess.
