Are .244 and .246 inserts and nocks the same?
« on: March 09, 2025, 09:21:53 AM »
I was looking at the Easton Legacy shafts. They call them 6.5MM. They say .244 ID as well. Is that the same and interchangeable with the .246 ID standard shafting and components? That also say 6.5 mm super nock. Is 6.5 the same as .246 Super nock?
Dang metric system. There are two kinds of countries, those that use the metric systems and those that were first to the moon.

Thank you,
Tedd

6.5 mm the o.d. is .264, if a micrometer confirmed these i.d.s are as advertised, it's 2/1000 of an inch!

From what I read on 3Rivers archery it says for bohning signature press in nock that "they will fit any carbon/aluminum arrow that takes an Easton S nock, Easton Super nock, Carbon Express TCX #1 nock, or Gold Tip nock. Arrows with a 0.2445" or 0.246" inside diameter. Weigh approximately 12 grains each."

for press fit plastic nocks the .246 gets a little tight, but i've been able to force them in.

For 50 and 100 gr brass inserts, not so much.  I have not been able to get .246 to work with a .244.

Thank you,
I like the idea of the white cap already on the shaft. If you want to add any bright color over top, it will pop.
The only reason I am looking at them is the fact that I'm having trouble finding a cedar shafts for a new bow. All my stuff is 80-85 spine, or .340s and .300s carbons. My newest bow is less draw weight and less center shot.  I have a 20 year old stock of heavy spine old growth cedar shafts that are as straight as a wood shaft could be. The cedar shafts I have purchased recently just do not compare.
I do have some 70-75s back order from Surewood. I feel like those will be a quality shaft. Anything I got from them in the past was exceptional.

.246 inserts will not work with Easton Legacys, you`ll need the .244`s

.246 is the standard for GoldTip arrows.
